One of Ford’s biggest beasts got its name from a dinosaur, the raptor. The raptor was known for being one of the most dangerous and ferocious animals to rule the prehistoric land. They thrived on surprise attacks, and their maneuverability and speed only added to the danger of being near one of them.
The infamous dinosaur has now seen its second life through the Ford F150 Raptor: A truck that lives up to its name in every way possible.
The Raptor Thrives Off Road
There are a few important reasons why the F150 Raptor is the best off road truck available, but the primary one is its unique four-wheel-drive feature of a torque-on-demand-transfer case. The advance technology allows for you to combine the best of both worlds: a clutch-driven all-wheel drive system with four-wheel drive.
The Raptor’s suspension system was made by Fox, and it’s designed to achieve the most exhilarating off-roading experience imaginable. A standard Ford F150 already has exceptional shock absorbers that are 1.5 inches in diameter. The Raptor however has shock absorbers that are three inches in diameter. The extra inches allow for the Raptor to push out a smoother ride when it’s on dirt roads in West Valley City, Utah or the streets of NYC.
Under the Hood
Like every great and new F150, the Raptor will be equipped with an EcoBoost engine. It’s new environmentally friendly and powerful engine will generate 450 horsepower and will be able to reach 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The truck will also feature Ford’s new aluminum frame body, which makes the truck lighter and more fuel-efficient. That means less time at the pump and more time at the dunes.
If you think you can handle the power that comes with a Ford Raptor, then get ready to wait in line at Ford dealers. The truck is expected to be released in the fall of 2016.
