Space Robots Aid Ford Vehicle Communication

Ford recently announced that they have been working with Russia’s Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years researching how to improve the connectivity of Ford vehicles. Researchers have studied how the space robots interact with each other.

This kind of out-of-this-world project is in hopes of developing communication systems within Ford’s vehicles such as the Escape so that drivers in Utah and throughout the world will be able to get help in the event of an accident.

The idea is that the vehicle’s communication system will be able to contact emergency responders even if the vehicle, Escape or not, has been damaged or data connection has been severed.

Here’s where the space robots come in. What we think is so interesting, is how the robots are connected through “mesh networks” that help the robots communicate between each other and the robot controllers on the International Space Station and some all the way on Earth, possibly even in Utah.

Ford is using this information to improve their vehicle’s emergency responses as well as car-to-car communication in the Escape and other models as well to increase the safety of Utah drivers.

Ford has many current models that are up-to-date with the latest technological trends such as MyKey and MyFord Touch. Visit us at Henry Day Ford or check out our website to see our inventory.
