Robot cars might be in our future

Robot cars are seriously closer to taking over Utah’s highways than you think. The fusion of the super smart technology that’s already driving new Ford’s today, with the navigation technology being developed by Google is already happening. There are literally cars that have already made this fusion driving around Silicon Valley without human drivers today. They are already navigating roads in California and Nevada, Utah won’t be far behind.

Sitting in a new Ford feels fairly futuristic as it is. With tablet screens, blue tooth connectivity to your phone and voice commands for almost everything, new Ford cars aren’t far from being robots as it is. Take the parking assist and make a fusion with the in-car Ford Sync system and you’re only one step away from a robot.

Google has already made the fusion of technologies by adding LIDAR to a vehicle and completing the autonomous circle. By using LIDAR, the vehicle can map out an environment and recognize hazards to avoid.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future of Ford and other vehicle makers holds.
