Police Cars Now Using Ford Surveillance Technology

Ford Motor Co. is now offering more than just a nice Escape for the Utah soccer mom. They have introduced a new technology for police cruisers to alert the officer of potential criminals sneaking up behind the vehicle. Here at Henry Day Ford we are proud to represent a company that supports the safety of our local Utah law enforcement officers.

This Ford technology uses a rear camera and cross-traffic alert to monitor the back of the police car. It also uses a park assist feature that is common in our Ford Escape and other models to monitor the rear of the vehicle. The patrol car has a screen in the rear view mirror to display what the rear camera is picking up. If someone approaches the car, the officer will be alerted and the windows will automatically roll up. For Utah officers patrolling more urban cities with many pedestrians, the “surveillance mode” can be turned off to avoid false alarms.

Ford’s Police Interceptor Program has police vehicles on patrol in some local Utah cities. The Salt Lake City and West Valley City Police Department both have Ford Police Interceptor patrol cars on the road.

For those looking to buy a Ford in Utah with similar rear camera features, consider the Ford Escape or any of our other models at Henry Day Ford. Stop by or check out our website to view our inventory.
