How You Can Contribute to Earth Day

Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd this year and while most people think it’s just a day to acknowledge the fact that we live on planet Earth, there is more you can do. You can take a look at your driving habits and see what you can do in your daily routine to be a little more Earth friendly. The first place you can look at is your car and what changes you can make to your Ford Fusion to make Earth better than ever.

You can make small, effective changes to your driving habits that can help reduce your carbon footprint. Not only are these tips good for the planet, but they can also be good for your bank account.

Remove Excess Weight

We all do it, but chances are there are things in the trunk of your Ford Focus that don’t need to be there. If you remove the extra stuff in your car, you remove unnecessary weight. The engine won’t have to work as hard since it is not as heavy, which means you don’t have to use as much gas. Every little bit helps to make the air you breathe, cleaner and better.

Remove the Lead Foot

Not only is this good for the environment, but it is also good for your safety and the safety of others around you. Take notice of your driving habits by accelerating smoothly and braking gradually. By doing this, it will help to optimize the fuel economy in your Ford Fusion.

Carpool

If you’re living in West Valley City, Utah, you’ve experienced the dreadful Utah inversion. To help reduce poor air quality, carpool with a co-worker that lives near you or take public transportation. In a most recent census, more than 76 percent of commuters drive solo. By driving with someone else, you reduce emissions being emitted into the air and you can save money. That sounds like a win-win to us.

So, celebrate Earth Day by looking at your driving habits and seeing what you can do to better the planet we live in. We here at your local Henry Day Ford dealer encourage it.
