Fall has begun and winter is just around the corner. If you’re anything like me, you’re dreading that early morning commute to work in the snow and ice. But living here in Utah, rough morning commutes in the snow are inevitable. It doesn’t have to be all that bad though; there are things you can do to prepare for winter to help keep you and others safe out there on the roads.
Preparation proceeds protection! It’s the perfect time to go out shopping for new tires for that Ford Focus of yours, or whatever other vehicle you might own. Shopping for winter tires can be pretty painless. You can stop in our Quick Lane tire and auto center and they can find the size and type for your Ford Focus or any other vehicle.
Good tires are the first step to safe driving in the snow. Be careful though; don’t get over confident because you have new shoes on the old whip! Safe driving in the snow and ice still takes caution and focus. Utah drivers can get pretty crazy out there in the early season, so be on the lookout, drive slowly, take caution and remember that it’s better to be late to work than to get in a car accident.
Weather.com has some really great step by step precautions to check out while driving in the snow. http://www.weather.com/activities/driving/drivingsafety/drivingsafetytips/snow.html. They talk about what to do if you get stuck, or if you start to skid. It would be a really great idea to read over those tips beforehand so you are prepared. Because remember, preparation proceeds protection!
